Thanks for stopping in to my portfolio-blog. Retired after thirty-three years of teaching English, I have started writing. I was a play-maker as a child, a Beatle-novelist in junior high, and a sometimes poet in high school. As soon as I started teaching, I stopped writing. Perhaps reading so many student papers killed my joy in writing. Perhaps teaching the greats of English and American literature set such a high standard in my mind that I didn’t dare put pen to paper. Now, however, my retirement gives me time and energy to write again for fun. I have joined the Inland Empire California Writers Club, and this year participated in National Novel Writing Month for the first time, “winning” by completing a 50,000-word novel called Avocado Highway. My newly-acquired love for country music has sparked several country lyrics which you can read today, and hopefully listen to soon. I hope you enjoy reading some of my works.
